Norwich City FC cake

A cake for a Norwich fan.

Vanilla sponge, layered with strawberry jam, cut to shape then covered and decorated with fondant.

Happy Birthday Pete!

The making of a Police Car Cake

Here's a brief step-by-step of the Police Car cake I made for a 5 year old's birthday party...

First make two chocolate cakes.

Stick them together with buttercream, and carve into a car shape (at this point I should have taken a picture, but was so engrossed that I forgot), then cover in buttercream.

Apply a layer of white fondant, smooth and trim all round.

Then start applying the detail, windows and lights first...

...stripes, grill, and top light bar...

...more stripes, wheels, some lettering, a black strip around the bottom to 'lift' it, and a number on top...

...and voila! The finished article.

A Gothic Anniversary

When my friends Wayne and Michelle got married 10 years ago it was an unconventional 'do' to which I wore a full length black velvet dress and purple velvet corset. They have continued their married life in a Gothic vein, and when Wayne told me they wanted me to make a cake for their 10th anniversary naturally the theme was 'Gothic", and he fancied a graveyard.

So here it is, vanilla sponge, vanilla buttercream, purple fondant covering, gravestones, cat, crow, tree and of course, bats.
